Angie's Kidney Support Site™'s Purpose:

This site is dedicated to kidney failure patients on dialysis and awaiting a transplant! A lot of this site is written from a teenager's point of view who was sick since birth. That teenager was me. Back in 1990 I felt differently about what I was going through. I didn't deal with my first transplant very well with all the side effects and the changes to my appearance. Now I am 32 and was on Peritoneal Dialysis but had to switch to Hemo Dialysis in July of 2005 due to peritonitis. I am not the same as I was back in 1990. Now I appreciate my 2nd chance at life and the technology available today to enable me to live for the last 5 years while I wait for a kidney to become available. But I wanted to help others going through this for the first time, especially those who are like me who have been sick since birth, and also those who have had a hard time dealing with the changes in their life due to dialysis and renal failure. But also those having a hard time dealing with this who have had a normal life and feel like it's all been taken away. We all deal with things differently. Please, let no one judge anyone! This place is here for anyone who needs it!

I am so happy to find this I HAD to share it with all of you!! But it is ONLY Available in the U.S.A.

DairyDelicious® is the refreshing real milk developed by doctors and approved by dietitians with your needs in mind. Now you can enjoy the great, fresh taste of real 2% milk that is low in phosphorous and low in potassium.

*Acrobat Reader is available for free from Adobe.

A few other resources I have come across is the Canadian Kidney Foundation's  Living with Kidney Disease patient manual.
So many people ask what are the requirements to donate one of their kidneys to me. Please refer to this handbook under the transplant section.

Also I just found a great tutorial on Kidney disease and dialysis.

I found this very interesting tutorial on kidney failure and phosphate!

There are so many other resources which can be found in the Links section! Have a look!

:: site updates ::

08/07/2006 - Site went down Aug 3rd 2006 due to host error and EVERYTHING was lost! Good thing I had just been editing 3 of the pages and therefor had a copy of them offline and had an old copy of the 4th page!! The guestbook, sadly enough, was lost. I am trying to get them to admit their error, compensate me for the loss and re-establish my account. So for now I have redone my site on my boyfriend's server. I will redirect to angieskidney.com when I get ahold of my host to do so.

07/26/2006 - Added a link to DairyDelicious®, the refreshing real 2% milk that is low in phosphorous and low in potassium!!

07/21/2006 - Added counters and chat to the left side bar, and added, with permission from Lori Hartwell, the RSNhope's radio show "Kidney Talk" and updated Angie's Story page.

07/11/2006 - Added Link to IHD Chat to all menus & added link to IHateDialysis.com to this page.

02/17/2006 - Added Dialysis & Transplant City Subscription Code.

02/12/2006 - Moved the site over to a new host (happy to be finally rid of those annoying popups).
Also redid the Guest Book from scratch on the new host (no more ICQ pager sorry). All old guest book entries from Canadianwebs have been lost and I have failed to find a way to recover them but my original Guest Book (started in 2001) still exists here if interested in reading those posts.

11/16/2005 - Updated my email since the one I was using was blocked by spam blockers everywhere.

11/15/2005 - Updated LINKS page with 3 new links including where you can get those plastic wristbands for both Ontario and USA.

11/14/2005 - Updated INFO page with a list of the top ten myths regarding organ donation.

10/4/2005 - I have updated the type of dialysis I am on in my About Me page and added new pics on that page as well. I also added 2 links to pics showing the types of dialysis on this page. I also added a clock on this page under the menu. Also fixed ICQ pager on the guest book page so it works again.

4/15/2005 - Changed to a NEW Forum layout. Check it out!

3/15/2005 -
Added ESRD Tutorial.

1/27/2005 - Added weather for my city and took out stuff that I moved to info page off this page.

12/04/2004 - Added link to the group I am apart of
Dialysis Transplant City
